Ethel Esi Eshun, Popularly known in showbiz as eShun is a three time major participant in a music reality shows. Eshun participated in season five of Mentor, MTN Project Fame in Nigeria, Glo X-Factor, and in all the competitions, she fell short of winning the ultimate prize. She went on to release Two singles after the reality shows which are “Meye” and “Dance with Daddy”.
“Obama City Awards” New Artiste of the year eShun was hosted by DJ Frank Abeeku on his most listen show “Wack or Dope” which air on Gentlemen Radio and was broadcasted live on Rivers Fm 90.1 in Ghana. The interview lasted about 40 minutes, and half of the time was spent talking about her music career. The host admitted to her of being inspired by “Dance With Daddy” tune in which she featured Kofi Bentil , a Gospel artiste. The song emphasis on celebrating fathers and also a father advising daughter on choices she shoud make as a woman.
When Dj frank Abeeku asked, eShun whether there is a deeper meaning in her song? she said “It daughter love for daddy.. I love my daddy more than my mom and that inspired me to compose a song to honor him”. The rest of her comment could be heard on the audio.
eShun calls on Female musicians in Ghana to stop seeing each other as competitors but instead unity as one and support the women’s movement to make their voice heard,a statement she made when Dj frank asked her about the challenges the female artists face in the music industry that is dominated by male.
On issues of getting radio airplay for her songs, she bitterly complained about the new habit of djs and presenters seeking for money from artists before they air their song. She said “They play chris Brown, Rihanna and others songs without asking for money and turn around to ask us for money before playing our songs, it not fair!!
