How To Prevent Dyslipidemia (High Cholesterol) – Dr Emmanuel Addae

Dyslipidemia – Abnormal high level of blood fats ( lipid) . They are associated with increased morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular diseases such as stroke and ischaemic heart disease.
The commonly assessed blood lipid parameters are Cholesterol, Low Density Lipoprotein( LDL), High Density Lipoprotein( HDL), and Triglycerides. The blood lipid profile considered abnormal if either the total and LDL cholesterol are above the expected.

  CAUSES:

1. High intake of saturated fats.  2. Lack of physical activity  3.Diabetes mellitus  4. Obesity
5. Nephrotic Syndrome

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
*Abdominal pain due to the inflammation of the pancreas.
*Whitish ring around the cornea ( cornea arcus)
*Whitish blood samples.

TREATMENT AND PREVENTION :
* Avoid Alcohol
* Regular physical activity
*  eat low calorie diet
* avoid saturated fat
* eat polyunsaturated fat ( plant fat).
* Drink.plenty fluid.
* consume a lot of fresh allium sativum ( garlic)  and allium Cepa ( onions)
